On a warm spring evening, I was excited to set up Archie’s 1-year-old outdoor cake smash in one of our lovely paddocks on the Clarke farm. Surrounded by wildflowers and long, flowing grass, it was the perfect spot to capture the rustic outdoor theme we had planned for his birthday. The natural beauty of the Rylstone countryside also added a personal touch, making it a truly magical and memorable scene.
Archie, dressed in the cutest beige overalls, looked absolutely adorable. He wasted no time and dove straight into his birthday cake, smashing it with pure delight. His excitement and joy were infectious, and it was such a joy for Jono and I to watch him enjoy every delicious bite. His laughter and messy face made for some of the most precious photos. These are the moments that make cake smash sessions so special—they capture pure, unfiltered joy and creates memories (and messes) that we can look back on, treasuring time and time again.

This minimal attire not only keeps the focus on your babe’s expressions and actions, but also avoids hiding the icing-covered fun. Don’t forget to bring a change of clothes and a bag to carry home your icing-covered outfit.
