Hi, I’m BREI, the storyteller behind the lens.
I grew up with a camera in my hand and started photographing landscapes when I was 16. While I originally hail from Washington State, I’ve called Rylstone “home” for quite some time now.
At 18 years old, I made the journey across the Pacific and soon found myself smitten with a ruggedly charming country boy named Jono. Love blossomed, we married, and before I knew it, I was swapping my Waterloo city apartment for life on the Clarke family farm and calling myself a small-town farm girl! That was almost a decade ago.
My hubby comes from a lineage of farmers, continuing the family’s 5th generation legacy as we operate our cattle and cropping business alongside his parents. Though I didn’t grow up amid the pastoral scenes, I’ve wholeheartedly embraced the country lifestyle and discovered my own rustic passions along the way.
These days, I split my time as a full-time mama, chasing after three energetic young boys, and finding pockets of peace tending to my vegetable gardens, chicken coops, and cultivating my little backyard oasis. An avid fitness enthusiast, you’ll likely find me squeezing in a morning workout before indulging in a piccolo coffee reward. And my afternoons? Well, they’re often spent in the company of my dearest girlfriends, sipping wine and watching the sunset paint the horizon.
At my core, I’m a creative spirit with an insatiable itch for human connection. If not wielding my camera to capture meaningful moments, you can find me strumming along on the banjo, dancing barefoot through my kitchen as music plays, or primping our cosy farmhouse abode to ensure it exudes warmth and welcome for all who enter.
Life, I’ve learned, is delightfully simple if you allow it to be. Happiness lies in appreciating the beauty that surrounds us daily – a philosophy I strive to weave into my imagery.
